Multiple sources told Fox News that Tiger Woods will attend a White House function on Monday to celebrate his Masters victory.
The 43-year-old golfer won his fifth Masters and 15th major championship in Augusta, Georgia, with a 2-under 70 on April 14.
The president, who has golfed with Woods, tweeted during the event and congratulated him, calling him “a truly Great Champion!”
Trump tweeted again the next day that he would give Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on his great victory in yesterday's @TheMasters, & to inform him that I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!” Trump wrote.
Woods' first major triumph since the 2008 U.S. Open capped a remarkable turnaround from severe ailments and embarrassing personal issues.
He won the 2018 Tour Championship, his first since 2013.
