Simone Biles, U.S. gymnastics stars compete this week for world championships spot

Tuesday and Wednesday will mark the next phase of Simone Biles' already prosperous return to gymnastics.

 Biles is the star of a competition to choose the American team for the world championships.

The first of six berths on the squad (one will later be named an alternative) for the worlds in Antwerp,

 Belgium, from October 1–8, goes to the winner of Tuesday's all-around competition in Katy, Texas.

The Gymternet reports that Biles competed last month for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics,

posting the top three marks in the world in each of the three all-around contests.

Biles is a huge favorite to win the first berth on the world team, but this week's attention is on the other competitors.

The rest of the team is chosen by a committee after Tuesday's overall winner. It will have the name of Wednesday,
