2023 Heisman Watch: Michael Penix Jr., Shedeur Sanders on the rise

The third week of the NCAA football season featured many standout performances, 

including another record-breaking performance by Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

Shedeur Sanders put on a passing clinic of his own in Colorado's exciting 43-35 triumph over rival Colorado State in double overtime, 

while Penix Jr. and the Huskies handled business against Michigan State.

While his Trojans had a bye, USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who is the current Heisman winner and the early favorite to win it again this year, sat back and relaxed.

Penix surprised everyone on Saturday by producing a masterpiece in Washington's 41-7 rout of Michigan State, 

just when you thought his stats couldn't get any better. In three quarters of play, the gifted senior QB completed 27 of 35 passes for an astounding 473 yards
